Senior Neighbors

Annual giving support in staffing transition and pandemic

Senior Neighbors serves over 4,000 older adults annually in Kent County, Michigan, helping them stay independent through a wide range of essential services and their five Senior Neighbors centers. Their goal is for all seniors to feel accepted as they are, to share a sense of belonging, and to help them find the assistance they need to live their best life.

Kennari came on board when a long-time and well-connected development director was retiring, helping them to make a successful transition to new staff. Additionally, Kennari helped shift annual giving to a more mission-focused model, revitalized their event strategy, and developed better processes and structure for the board to successfully support fund development efforts. Kennari also provided guidance to staff for the pandemic shift to virtual for the “16 Over 60” event, a large-scale event that honors multiple older adults and raises significant funds for the organization.

“Kennari started as a consultant and quickly became a highly valued partner. Their commitment to our success is apparent in every interaction. Kennari is always well informed on fundraising trends and helps us put that knowledge into the action that best serves our mission to enhance the lives of seniors.” – Robert Barnes, President, Senior Neighbors
