The Diatribe

Comprehensive consulting services

The Diatribe is a nonprofit organization in Grand Rapids, founded and led by Black, Brown, and Queer individuals. The Diatribe uses restorative art such as writing, spoken word, and murals to reimagine education, empower their community, and disrupt historical systems of oppression.

Kennari Consulting has been working with The Diatribe since 2021, starting with work on a business plan for a new space to house their headquarters and programming space, The Emory Arts and Culture Hub. Kennari initially supported the Business Plan and Pre-Feasibility work, eventually executing a Feasibility Study to understand the level of philanthropic support available for the project. Kennari then facilitated the Campaign Fundraising Strategy by designing a campaign plan that aligned with feasibility study findings and was appropriate for their fundraising target. This support, along with Grant Writing and Strategy has thus far resulted in $6.7M committed towards their $9M fundraising goal. In 2023, Kennari Consulting also engaged with The Diatribe through Annual Giving consulting, focusing on enhancing the organization’s practices in Communications, Donor Database management, Annual Giving Programs, Events, Grants Coaching, Staffing, and the creation of a Development Plan.

“The Kennari team has been integral to the growth of The Diatribe not only due to the expertise they brought to our capital campaign, but also their guidance and support when it comes to fundraising and development strategy on a broader scale. For an organization in a unique phase of growth, we couldn’t be happier with the results we’re seeing and beyond that, a relationship that has felt authentic and genuinely supportive of our team and our work.”
